Trucking ordinance

The eastside of Detroit is over-burdened with air pollution and residents are organizing for cleaner air. Through Project HEARD (Health Equity via Advocacy for Resources in Detroit), Eastside Community Network and STPP worked toward policies to address the health and safety concerns posed by semi-truck traffic. For this project, STPP researched truck counting technology, ordinances and enforcement in other cities (NYC, LA, Chicago), recommended suggestions to the proposed ordinance on Traffic and Vehicles, and created the informational report Air Quality 101. Eastside Community Network created a policy brief and presentation on Air Quality and Truck Traffic.

Engagement with the Detroit City Council

STPP is working with ECN to educate residents about best practices for working with the Detroit City Council.
