How to apply
Master’s or doctoral students, as well as U-M postdoctoral fellows, from any field are welcome to apply.
Any student who is currently enrolled in one of the University's graduate degree programs, as well as U-M postdoctoral fellows, are eligible to submit an application to the STPP Graduate Certificate Program. Students from any field, including LSA and the professional schools, are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Student applicants must have at least one semester of grades at U-M before being admitted to Rackham graduate certificate programs, and must be carrying a B average or better. Applicants will be evaluated based on their commitment to, and understanding of, STPP as demonstrated by their statement of interest. STPP does not place a cap on admissions.
The deadlines for applications are November 1st and March 1st. Those who wish to apply to the program will submit the following materials:
Students who are enrolled in a Rackham administered program (i.e. Environment and Sustainability, Chemistry, Urban Planning, etc.)
- Complete the Add a Degree or Certificate Form and pay the application fee. The program code is 01906.
- One-page statement that explains how the STPP program will contribute to the student's education and future career, and a resume, uploaded as a part of the Rackham application.
- Meet with your current program advisor or graduate coordinator prior to submitting the application to add a degree or certificate.
- Complete the Pre-Approval Form for Dual Admission and obtain a signature of approval from the authorized signer in your current graduate program before you apply. Without approval and an authorized signature on the form, your application will not be processed.
Students and postdocs not currently enrolled in a Rackham graduate program
- Complete the Rackham application online and pay the application fee. Please choose "Science Technology and Public Policy Certificate" as your program of application. Note that courses taken to complete certificate requirements should be registered for under Rackham (dual-enrollment is allowed).
- One-page statement that explains how the STPP program will contribute to the student's education and future career, and a resume, uploaded as a part of the Rackham application.
