This is a Virtual Event.Attorney Vineet Shahani, General Counsel for Mill, will engage with current STPP students in an informal conversation about his background in technology policy and climate work. Mr. Shahani will provide valuable insight into the daily operations of policy work in a tech company, as well as the pragmatic aspects of seeking policy jobs in Silicon Valley.
From the Speaker’s Bio:
Vineet Shahani is General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Head of People at Mill and has been working with the company since its founding. Built by the team that created the Nest Thermostat, Mill prevents food waste with an innovative food-recycling system that has changed consumer behavior around waste generation and has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by keeping millions of pounds of food out of landfills. Recently profiled in the Wall Street Journal, Mill’s investors include Google Ventures and Breakthrough Energy Partners.
Before Mill, Vineet was a legal executive at Google for almost a decade, where he led a global legal team that advised on transactions, product issues, marketing strategy, international expansion and public policy. Vineet came to Google via the acquisition of Nest, one of the largest in Google's history. Prior to Google/Nest, Vineet was a senior lawyer at Apple, where he advised on product issues and transactions around the world during a foundational period for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Prior to Apple, Vineet was Assistant General Counsel at Enova International, a financial technology firm, and a corporate attorney at Latham & Watkins LLP. Vineet received a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and a BBA from the University of Michigan. Vineet grew up in the Chicago suburbs, is a die-hard college sports fan, and now lives in San Mateo, CA with his wife (also a Michigan alum) and three children.
