Matthew Bui
Dr. Matthew Bui (he/him) is an assistant professor at the University of Michigan School of Information, and a faculty affiliate with the NYU Center for Critical Race and Digital Studies (CR+DS) and UCLA Center for Critical Internet Inquiry (C2i2). Bui’s research examines the potential for, and barriers to, urban data justice, foregrounding the racial politics of data-driven technologies, policy, and initiatives. His research has received support from the Annenberg Foundation, Benton Foundation, Democracy Fund, Kauffman Foundation, and Urban Communication Foundation; and received scholarly recognition from the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) and the Research Conference on Communications, Information and Internet Policy (TPRC).
Prior to UMSI, Bui was a Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellow at the NYU Alliance for Public Interest Tech. He received his PhD and MA from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California.
