Jason Owen-Smith is co-founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Research on Innovation and Science (IRIS). He is also Professor of Sociology, Research Professor in the Institute for Social Research (ISR) and Executive Director of Research Analytics at the University of Michigan. His research uses data and computationally intensive methods to examine how complex networks among people and organizations shape knowledge-work and innovation. He is author of most recently of the 2018 book Research Universities and the Public Good: Discovery for an Uncertain Future.
