Karissa Kresge (MPP/STPP 2022), Executive Policy Analyst for the Public Health Administration at Michigan
Department of Health and Human Services, will engage with current STPP students in an informal conversation. Students interested in learning more about health policy, policy analysis, and working at the state level are encouraged to attend.
From the Speaker's Bio:
Karissa is the Executive Policy Analyst for the Public Health Administration at Michigan
Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, Karissa assists the
department's subject matter experts in providing clear and timely responses to
legislative requests. Karissa graduated from the University of Michigan Ford School of
Public Policy in 2022 with an emphasis on policy analysis and a graduate certificate in
Science, Technology and Public Policy. During her graduate studies, Karissa completed
internships with Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the
federal affairs team at the Executive Office of the Governor.
A returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Karissa served in the community and youth
development sector with Peace Corps Armenia from 2017-2019. Previously, Karissa
worked in community engagement, advocacy, and fundraising with UNICEF USA and
AmeriCorps State. She completed her undergrad studies in international relations and
economics at Grand Valley State University and Cracow University of Economics.
Karissa lives in Detroit where she enjoys exploring the city's food, art, and music scene,
and is counting down the days until the WNBA comes back to the city in 2029.
